Finally, a tour of my own backyard! I’ve chosen some of my favourite locations for this tour. Places I know intimately where you’ll receive hands on tuition and education from myself (Levin Barrett) as we go.
This small group tour is designed to take you to some of the best photographic locations in Victoria and teach you advanced techniques in capture and processing of Landscape, Seascape and Nightscape photography. The goal is to develop your skills so you can confidently shoot this style of photography with great results in the future. The focus is on fun and education while seeing some of the best that Victoria has to offer.
This tour is best for intermediate to experienced photographers who would like to advance their skill set, gain further knowledge and visit some premium locations. The tour includes formal training in a classroom style setting and then putting that into practice on location.
After your first night in Melbourne with a meet and greet dinner to get to know your fellow guests, we head to Bendigo for an afternoon and evening nightscape photography course with Richard Tatti, arguably one of the worlds most respected nightscape photographers.
We then have 3 nights at Lake Tyrrell, a night at The Grampians, a night at Warrnambool, 3 more nights at Port Campbell exploring the cliffs and Apostles of The Great Ocean Road, and finally a night at Anglesea before returning to Melbourne.
The cost will include everything except lunch, drinks, airfares and the optional Helicopter Flight. It is a small group in our own comfortable transport. You will have your own separate bedroom every night, breakfast and dinner, National Park passes and fully guided with photographic tuition and education.
This evening we get to know each other over a few drinks and dinner. We’ll meet around 4:30 pm and I’ll give you a rundown on the week ahead and answer all your questions.
Dinner and your first nights accommodation is included. Unless sharing with a partner, all accommodation from here on is in your own private bedroom although we are using shared accommodation at Cape Otway due to the nature of the historic buildings.
I can arrange private transport for you, at an additional cost, from the airport to the hotel if you desire.
Today we travel north to Bendigo for an afternoon and evening of nightscape training with world renowned nightscape photographer Richard Tatti. Richard has over 87,000 followers on YouTube and has created over 300 videos about nightscape photography.
We spend a night at Rostrata where he will give you the basics for our nights of photography ahead.
After a bit of a sleep in and breakfast, we continue north to Lake Tyrrell and Sea Lake for 3 nights. This natural shallow salt lake can provide some of the most surreal photos and experience in your life. Dawn, dusk and night provide a wide variety of opportunities at this unique location.
From the viewing platform, the west shore and the bus, we’ll collect some very unique and surreal images.
Today we follow the Silo Trail south to Halls Gap in The Grampians. Each massive grain silo is uniquely painted in it’s own theme which has evolved into it’s own tourist route. We’ll also visit the Stick Shed before arriving in Halls Gap.
A sunset shoot and dinner will finish off the day nicely.
Today we leave the Bush for the Ocean. Warrnambool is a large vibrant regional town with stunning coastal views, walks and waterways. Our accommodation is in the heart of of the coastal area with an easy walk to the beach, cliffs and inlets (and a great bar). We’ll also take the short drive to Port Fairy, which is as lovely as it sounds, for our sunset/evening shoot.
Today we head for the rugged coastline of The Great Ocean Road.
With 3 nights at this world famous location, we explore the cliffs and seascapes of the 12 Apostles, Bakers Oven,London Bridge and more. Dawn, Dusk and Nightscape, it’s all here as the weather permits.
During the day, we have access to the Port Campbell Arts Space to continue your training in capture and process. I’ll be working with you on your images so you can see you work come to life.
Here is where you can do an optional helicopter flight if you wish.
Today we continue further along the coast towards Melbourne. We have breakfast in Apollo Bay and visit various coastal towns before spending our final night at Anglesea. With cliffs, beaches and even a lighthouse, it rounds off our photographic experience.
For our last day, we head to the Geelong foreshore for our farewell lunch (which is included). You have a few hours here to explore but then it’s sadly time for our 2 hour drive back to Melbourne and the conclusion of our tour. I’ll drop you at Melbourne airport around 5pm for your flight or shuttle bus.
