In a major update to the Lake Tyrrell Weekend, renowned and awarded Astro Photographer Jason Perry is now joining and assisting me with guiding and instructing over the weekend.
Among Jason’s many accolades, he was the winner of the 2022 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year plus the overall Peoples Choice winner. More recently his Astro images finished in the top 5 in the Australian Photography Magazine 2023 Photographer of the Year competition.

The weekend commences with welcome drinks at our accommodation at 3PM on Friday 12th May. The weekend is Self Drive so you will need to make your own way there and around the area over the next 2 days. Some of the tracks surrounding Lake Tyrrell are soft and sandy so where possible we may car pool into All Wheel or 4 Wheel drives for some locations. After Picking up your loan Sony gear and getting to know each other, grab your own dinner before we head out to Lake Tyrrell for Sunset. We’ll spend the evening here and you stay as long or as short as you want.
A dawn shoot the next morning is optional depending how late you stayed up the night before. There are some great coffee shops and milkbars for breakfast and the SkyMirror Cafe and Gallery is a must. If you are doing the astro course with me, we’ll get a start on that this morning. We all get together at the pub for our group lunch which is included. The afternoon is yours as you choose but we are out again to Lake Tyrrell for Sunset and Astro. The moon rises around 1am if you want some images with the lake lit up.
Sunrise and breakfast at your discretion and I’ll complete part 2 of the astro workshop this morning. A final get together lunch to say goodbye and it’s hit the road for home. If you would like additional nights accommodation, let me know and I can liaise this for you.
